What about the golden dome?

The history of Notre Dame's iconic Golden Dome is fascinating. Originally built in 1879 with a wooden structure covered in gold leaf, it symbolized the university's pursuit of excellence. Destroyed by fire in 1882, it was rebuilt with brick and terra cotta in 1883, and the current stainless steel dome was installed in 1963.
